This week you can expect the following activities in Salem:
– Continued activity on Pierce Avenue as crews work to excavate and install conduit and duct bank.
– Continued activity on National Grid property on the corner of Ferry Street and Waite Street as crews work on the Waite Street substation.
On Monday, McCourt Construction will be performing a water shutdown to resolve a leak located on the water main pipe on Peirce Avenue. Water service on Peirce Avenue, Waite Street, and sections of Bridge Street will be shut down from 9 am to 3 pm.
Please note that parking on Ferry Street, Pierce Avenue, and Waite Street will be limited to allow for greater access for National Grid and its contractors. During workdays, you may notice equipment and materials moving in and out of the worksites via Bridge Street. Construction on Peirce Avenue and the corner of Waite Street will take place between the hours of 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
This week you can expect the following activities in Beverly.
– Pre-construction activity, including test pit excavation and survey work inside the Beverly 12 substation on National Grid’s River Street property.
– Due to existing municipal underground maintenance work on the corner of Hale Street and Lothrop Street, test pitting will begin on East Lothrop Street.
Test pit excavation is an important aspect of pre-construction activity, used to locate existing underground utilities that may not have been identified on plans or during past survey work. In Beverly, this work will take place at the expected locations of manholes along the route. Crews expect to take three to five days at each location, dependent on conditions.
Our weekly newsletter remains one of the easiest ways to stay up to date with the latest project information related to construction schedules, timelines, and traffic. If you haven’t already, please feel free to encourage your neighbors, family, or friends who may be interested in having these weekly updates sent straight to their email inbox to sign up here (at the bottom of the homepage).
Construction is scheduled to minimize the impact on traffic and everyday life; your neighborhood and street will likely only be impacted by the construction for weeks—not years. That said, we understand that construction doesn’t always feel “short-term” when it’s in front of your home or business. As work begins in your area, we will continue to work to mitigate inconveniences that come up to the greatest extent feasible. Please let us know about upcoming deliveries, schedules, and events that could be impacted by work.
If you have questions about any of our current or upcoming work, please feel free to contact a member of our project outreach team by emailing us at info@BeverlyRegionalTransmissionReliabilityProject.com, or by calling our project hotline 1-833-238-4743.
*Please note, due to the complexities of outdoor construction, schedule is subject to change.
