Construction Update: December 13, 2024

Next week, duct bank construction will continue at the following locations in Beverly:

  • -Webber Avenue
    • —Near 2 Webber Avenue

  • -Cross Lane
    • —Between Cross Street and Spruce Run

  • -Boyles Street
    • —Between Cross Lane and Cole Street

Crews are installing sections of transmission line cable in completed sections of duct bank. This work does not require any excavation. Cable-pulling and preparatory activities may also take place on Saturdays. Next week, these activities will continue at the following manholes:

  • -#2 (in Salem, on Bridge Street)
    • —Preparatory work

  • -#3 (on Congress Street near the MBTA tracks)
    • —Preparatory work

  • -#9 (near 203 Lothrop Street)
    • —Cable installation

  • -#10 (near 2 Cavendish Square)
    • —Cable installation

In order to accelerate the completion of the project, with the agreement of the City of Beverly, extended work hours are in place at worksites on Cross Lane and Boyles Street. Some crews will continue duct bank excavation on Saturdays between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM. Monday through Friday, work hours in Beverly are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please let us know about any upcoming deliveries or special events that we can prepare to assist you with.

At times, work vehicles may need to stage outside of active worksites for traffic management purposes.

Please note that parking may be limited and/or through-traffic may be detoured on the following streets: Congress, East Lothrop, Boyles, Cross Lane, Cavendish Square and Webber Avenue in Beverly, and Bridge Street in Salem. Residents will always be able to access their homes and driveways with assistance from police details, crew members, and traffic signage.

At times, construction equipment generates noise that will be noticeable to abutters. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we perform these critical infrastructure upgrades.
