A section of the conduit installed by the Beverly Regional Transmission Reliability Project, located under the Essex Bridge between Salem and Beverly, is currently undergoing additional work to ensure its longevity. This work at times involves a barge located under the bridge and equipment placed on the bridge. At times, a partial lane closure will be in place, primarily on the right-hand northbound lane. Existing electric utilities under the bridge are also undergoing maintenance.
This work is necessary to ensure the continued reliability of electric service through all future weather conditions. We thank Beverly and Salem residents and commuters for their patience and understanding. In collaboration with MassDOT and the cities of Salem and Beverly, we are working to avoid major traffic impacts. We expect this work to be completed, and the new transmission line energized, by late spring.
